Russia climbs the “Doing Business” report by World Bank

The World Bank’s new report which looks at top destinations for “Doing Business” has awarded Russia 62nd place. Only last year the Russian Federation was holding 92nd place in the report, however with the business community growing every year it is also becoming easier to do business, so there are no surprises that Moscow climbed 30 places. In fact Russia has been steadily climbing, as in 2012 it was 112th moving 20 places to 92 last year.

The report looks at comparing business regulations for domestic firms in 189 economies. According to the report Russia made it easier to start business by eliminating the requirement to deposit the charter capital before company registration as well as the requirement to notify tax authorities of the opening of a bank account.

Russia’s position looks encouraging, being placed 28 places ahead of one of the world’s largest economies – China was ranked 90th in the same chart.

Dmitry Fokin, Managing Director of IXcellerate commented on the World Bank’s report “At IXcellerate we are very much part of the process of building a new simpler and cleaner business environment in Russia. We have made it much easier for international companies to set up their computer systems and data connections. As Russia is the biggest Internet market in Europe with an e-commerce market growing in excess of 20pc annually, we see ourselves as the new international airport where companies can land and access this exciting market.”
