In mid-October, IXcellerate visited Dubai for the Global Digital Power Summit 2021, organized by Huawei. The main theme was the environmental agenda and the formation of a smart society with a low carbon footprint. Among the things discussed at the event, were:
✔ Building a society that cares about reducing the carbon footprint;
✔ Construction of “smart” and “green” data centers (for this, in fact, we went);
✔ Ensuring the reliability of digital infrastructure;
✔ Investment in digitalization;
✔ Alternative “green” energy sources and their application.
It is estimated that the data center industry takes up of around 1% of global electricity consumption, which may increase to 2-3% by 2030. With each year ESG practices and power usage efficiency solutions become an integral part of data center strategies worldwide.
