Global Carrier enhances international network coverage in Moscow to meet growing demand from Russian market

5 August 2014

Xcellerate, Moscow’s premier carrier neutral datacentre operator, today announced that Sprint, a global provider of wireless and wireline communications services, has expanded its wireline network to include a Point of Presence (PoP) in IXcellerate’s Moscow One Datacenter. Sprint is enhancing the reach of its international network to provide its global customers with close proximity and optimal connectivity to IXcellerate’s clients and partners in Moscow, Russia.

Organizations that require global coverage, low jitter and a congestion free environment rely on Sprint’s international network as a foundation to connect their software and ‘as a service’ applications seamlessly around the world.

As part of an ongoing expansion of its core network backbone, Sprint chose IXcellerate’s Moscow One Datacentre to access its unique community of carriers and ISPs, and create new business opportunities for multi-national customers looking to expand further into Russia. IXcellerate’s facilities located within the MKAD ring road of Moscow are the ideal match for Sprint, enabling the company to provide its customers robust, resilient services, while also offering the opportunity to interconnect with other carriers and capacity providers.

Michael Rolff, Director EMEA Network Services at Sprint, commented, “Sprint is investing in its network capabilities within Europe, Middle East and Africa. Through having a presence in IXcellerate’s data center, Sprint remains focused on ensuring its customers continue to have direct access to facilities with the highest levels of connectivity, reliability and scalability, and in support of mission critical applications around the world.”

Guy Willner, the CEO of IXcellerate, added, “Sprint is a premier International Capacity provider and its commitment to grow with IXcellerate demonstrates the strong returns our datacentre facilities continue to provide. Sprint is the most recent carrier to join our growing community of telecommunications customers in the Moscow One Datacentre”

Sprint offers MPLS service in more than 155 countries and continues to expand with its own facilities and through NNI (network-to-network interconnectivity) agreements as customer needs require. It also offers Ethernet access in 118 countries.
